Oral appliance options
Oral devices have become progressively smaller and provide superior patient comfort to enable effective treatment.
There is plenty of room for the tongue and you may move your jaw with the device in place as well as take a drink of water and talk. This improves adherence to therapy and positive outcomes!
There are multiple models available but they are all optimized to stabilize your lower jaw in a slightly advanced position thus tightening the tissues in the throat. This opens the way for airflow and helps to reduce snoring and apnea events
Here are some examples:
How do oral appliances work?

Snoring occurs when the soft tissues in the airway relaxes and blocks breathing. When you try to breath, it vibrates the tissue and creates the snoring sound.

Sleep apnea occurs when the airway is completely blocked, air can not get into the body, and you wake up gasping for air.

An oral appliance prescribed by Dr. Sever lifts your lower jaw up, opening the airway as you sleep, so your body can breath. This eliminates snoring and allows you to stay asleep through the night.
